Easter Changes Everything
February 1977 was one of the most stressful months of my life. I was in the second semester of law school, pursuing my parents’ dream to become a lawyer. Interestingly, I can’t truthfully say it was ever my vision, my passion, or my dream. Something needed to change in my life.
I had just earned a 4.0 grade point average, and, based on intellect, talent, and communications skills, everything indicated that law should be the perfect profession for me. And yet it was like wearing a sports coat that was six sizes too small. It just didn’t fit. And then my whole life was interrupted on March 14, 1977.
It was the Easter season, and everything changed. It wasn’t that my life just all of a sudden halted, or I slammed on the brakes. It was as if I was gently lifted up, and had a 180 degree turn. I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Everything changed. My faith changed, my vocational direction changed, my relationships changed, the dynamic with my family life in the Jewish community changed. In that season I came to the realization that Easter changes everything. The fact that Jesus Christ is resurrected and that resurrection power now lives in me changes everything. Who I would marry, changed; how my kids would be raised, changed. Everything changed.
This Easter season, the scripture makes it clear;
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3)
What is it in your life that needs to change? What are your affections set on right now; earthly things or things that are above? What affections need to change? This Easter why not allow the life of Jesus Christ and His resurrection power to help bring forth the eternal changes in your life that are part of your destiny. Here is the great news; Easter doesn’t only change everything for you. Once your life has been changed, it’s going to begin to change the lives of those in your spheres of influence, because Easter changes everything.
