Once For All
Read: Hebrews chapter 9
Have you ever made a mistake and felt like you needed to make up for it? Maybe you worked harder, tried to do better, or carried the guilt a little longer because you felt you deserved it. If I’m honest, I think we sometimes bring that same mindset into our relationship with God. We know Jesus forgives us, but we still feel like we need to prove ourselves.
Hebrews 9 reminds us that Jesus offered Himself once for all. His sacrifice was enough. He opened the way into God’s presence, secured our forgiveness, and cleansed our conscience. We don’t have to keep paying for sins He has already forgiven.
There’s a difference between conviction and condemnation. Conviction leads us to repentance and back to Jesus. Condemnation keeps telling us we’re still guilty, even after we’ve received His forgiveness. Romans 8:1 reminds us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I’m learning that following Jesus means trusting what He has already done, even when my feelings try to tell me otherwise. We pursue holiness, serve others, and keep growing because we’ve been loved and forgiven, not because we’re trying to earn God’s approval.
Maybe today you need to stop carrying something Jesus has already taken care of. Bring it to Him. Receive His forgiveness. Let go of the shame. Jesus has done what we could never do for ourselves. We can rest in His finished work and live in the freedom He purchased for us.

Take a few quiet moments to reflect:
Where am I still trying to earn what Jesus has already provided?
Is there sin I need to bring into the light and confess?
Is there shame from my past that I need to surrender to Jesus?
What is one way I can live this week in the freedom of His finished work?
